Scope and Contents Handwritten music manuscript of "A Mourner's Kaddish" by Mandelbaum. The handwritten note at the beginning of the manuscript reads "Chamber Version for Small Chorus and Five Instruments." Five instruments being used are the Flute, Horn in F, Violin, Cello, Organ. Note at the bottom of the manuscript reads "Chamber Version Completed, Sunnyside, NY. June 23, 1989." Abstract

The Joel Mandelbaum Manuscripts and Printed Music collection contains numerous printed and handwritten scores and manuscripts created by Joel Mandelbaum. Dr. Mandelbaum joined the Queens College faculty in 1961, serving as a professor of music for the Queens College Department of Music (later renamed the Aaron Copland School of Music in 1980) and retiring in 1999 after 37 years of service to the university.
