In Deep Woods, 1985
Scope and Contents
Handwritten music manuscript of "In Deep Woods" by Mandelbaum. Contains three seperate parts:
I. Never Again Would Birds' Song Be The Same;
II. Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening;
III. The Road Not Taken.
The handwritten note at the beginning of the manuscript reads "These songs are for study only. Permission to perform them has not been granted by the Frost estate." and "Dedicated fondly and gratefully to Saul and Miriam Cohen."
Note at the bottom of the manuscript's first page reads "M: The muscial motto, Eb, Bb, C which as S.B.C. represents the initials of Saul Bernard Cohen to whom the song are dedicated. *The Frost poems are copyrighted and should not be performed without permission of the publisher. **Quotation marks ("") surround a passage in the introduction of each song to which the title may be sung if it should appear to be appropriate."
Handwritten note at the end of the first part reads "Sunnyside, N.Y. Jan 18, 1985 Joel Mandelbaum." Handwritten note at the end of the second part reads "Sunnyside, N.Y. Jan 21, 1985 Joel Mandelbaum". Handwritten note at the end of the third and final part reads "January 26, 1985 (i.m.m.M.R.M) Joel Mandelbaum. Ending revised March 1987 for performance of March 30. Copied April.17, 1987. Dedicated fondly and gratefully to Saul B. and Miriam Cohen."
