Scope and Contents

This subseries includes clothing and accessories belonging to Rosenthal and her mother, Evelyne, designated by Rosenthal as part of her Unfashionable Art project. Garments range from pieces related to major life events such as weddings and graduations to Rosenthal’s bedazzled performance costumes, to lovingly worn everyday clothes. Also included are historical family items worn by Evelyne Rosenthal dating back to 1940, and items related to the Rosenthal family’s Jewish heritage. Other non-clothing items relating to Barbara Rosenthal’s Jewish identity can also be found in the Personal and Family Materials subseries.
