Newark Community Union Project (NCUP) Photographs, 1967
These photographs depict the aftermath of the community rebellion in Newark in July 1967, originally sparked by an act of police brutality towards a local cab driver. At the time, Gatti was employed by the Newark Community Union Project (NCUP), which worked on social, economic, and racial equity issues locally. The initiative had its roots in Students for Democratic Society.
Kevin Donnellan Recollection of Andrew Goodman, 1993
In this 1993 recollection, Queens College alumnus Kevin Donnellan explains how Andrew Goodman almost joined the Queens College Mexico Volunteers (along with himself and Gatti) to build a school in a poor area in Taxco during the summer of 1964. Instead, like Mario Savio, he opted to participate in the Mississippi Freedom Summer Project. Donnellen gave a copy of this reminiscence to Gatti in the 1990s.
