Civil Rights
Scope and Contents Note
This series is divided into five subseries: Civil Rights, Anti-Vietnam War, Students for a Democratic Society, Newark Community Union Project, and Additional Activism. Each subseries contains items generated by Gatti’s direct involvement in activities, as well as items collected by Gatti. Materials include clippings, publications, newsletters, documents, correspondence, photographs, fliers, posters, handouts, and I.D. cards. Of note, the Anti-Vietnam War subseries contains color photographs of national anti-war demonstrations in Washington DC in 1971; and the Newark Community Union Project subseries contains photos of the aftermath of the Newark Rebellion in July 1967. There is also a recollection of Andrew Goodman written by fellow Queens College alumnus Kevin Donnellan. Some items were originally contained in a scrapbook; however, in the interests of preservation and access they were removed and transferred to folders within this series.
