Historical Note
According to Boris Schwarz, "Stimulated by his operatic work, Rathaus turned to other aspects of theater music- incidental music for plays and music for films. Outstanding among the former is his score for Uriel Acosta (1930), which was a world-wide success as presented by the famed Habimah players and as an orchestral suite." See Schwarz, Boris. “Karol Rathaus.” The Musical Quarterly, vol. 41, no. 4, 1955, pp. 483-484.
