Scope and Contents

This subseries consists of Rosenthal's photojournalism work. It includes two portfolios compiled by Rosenthal, loose prints and contact sheets of some of her professional photographic work, and two issues of Patterns, the Carnagie Mellon University literary-art magazine of which she was the editor from 1967-1970.

One portfolio contains Rosenthal’s student and faculty work, including projects she worked on as a schoolchild in Franklin Square, New York. Also included is one folder of mockups and drafts for the Parsons Faculty Affairs Newsletter, of which Rosenthal was the editor in 1987-1989.

Student work included:
  • Stanforth Signature (Junior High School newspaper, 1960-1963)
  • Sewanhaka Chieftain (High School newspaper, 1963-1966)
  • The Arrow (High School literary-art magazine, 1963-1966)
  • The Bulletin (Franklin Square, New York town newspaper, 1964)
  • Patterns (Carnagie Mellon University literary-art magazine, 1966-1970)
  • Faculty Affairs (Parsons School of Design College Council Newsletter, 1987-1989)
  • Sebago Souvenirs (6th grade camp book, 1960)
  • Camp Sejwin Yearbook (Camp book, 1963)


The second portfolio contains Rosenthal’s professional photojournalism and newsprint reviews in publications including the New York Post, Village Voice, Soho News, New York Times Magazine, and the Seattle Times.
