These records represent the ongoing activities of the College campus during this period. This includes new faculty hires, changes in the administration, changes in College offerings and programs, College programming and events, campus life, directives from College leadership, and overall College expansion, which waned during this period. The records in this collection changed format with the rapid advancement of technology from the 1980's through the 2000's, evolving from a physical newsletter to a digital newsletter that was printed out for the purposes of preservation.

In 1986 an external-facing edition of FYI began publication, named FYI College/Community/Corporate/Connections, which was "distributed to more than 3,000 business and community leaders in Queens and Nassau Counties" with copies also going to "other appropriate recipients in the New York metropolitan area." These were published quarterly for 1986. In June 1987 FYI College/Community/Corporate/Connections became Queens College Report with the intent to inform "the business and civic leaders of our community about interesting activities on the campus." The Queens College Report was published three times per year. The June 1987 edition of the Queens College Report is the last instance of any public-facing edition in this collection and the first and only edition under the name of Queens College Report.
