Friends of the Library, 1961 - 2005
Scope and Contents
This series consists of founding documents (constitution and by-laws), meeting minutes, publicity, membership materials, fundraising information, and administrative files of the Friends of the Queens College Library. The Friends organization ran book sales on behalf of the library, encouraged financial and book donations, and sponsored cultural activities and programming, including initiating the Queens Poet Laureate project.

Historical Note
Friends of the Queens College Library was founded circa 1963 "to promote and encourage among the alumni and the public an interest in the Queens College Library, to encourage gifts and bequests in support of the library and the various activities conducted by it, and to serve as a medium for encouraging fuller understanding of the aims and functions of Queens College."
