3.1 Scope and Contents Note
Printed in Basel (Switzerland) by Hieronymus Frobenius and Nicolaus Episcopius. The Geoponica are a part of the encyclopedic excerpts undertaken according to the instructions of Constantine VII. The selection is based upon the older compilation of Cassianus Bassus. First Latin translation of a 10th century Byzantine treatise on agriculture. After the title page follows a dedication to Wolfgang of Stolberg and Wernigerode Count Wolfgang of Stolberg, 1501-1552, Rector Magnificus of Wittenberg University from 1521, where Cornarius had studied. Contains one illegible autograph on the title page: G. ?irkoving? One of three (of this specific edition) in the US: only in Harvard.

The binding is late, and in reasonable condition. The ridged back has the writing: C. CAESARIS BASIL 1538 The last two pages were damaged and partially reconstructed at some point. No apparent marginalia.
