Awards, 1962 - 1996

The awards series consists of plaques and certificates. The largest plaque is from 1979 appointing Andrew Greller as a member of the Northeastern Queens Nature and Historical Preserve Commission. According to Greller, this plaque was signed by Governor Hugh Carey in disappearing ink (evident in its faded appearance) - apparently due to Carey's strong dislike of him. Certificates include a 1976 Certificate of Appreciation from the United States Environmental Protection Agency, a 1983 Certificate of Appreciation to Andrew Greller from the Alley Pond Environmental Center (APEC), a 1985 Certificate from The New York Academy of Sciences, and a 1996 Explorers Club Certificate of Membership.

Accompanying these awards is a 1982 note to Andrew Greller from the Executive Director of the State of New York Northeastern Queens Nature and Historical Preserve Commission; a letter to Andrew Greller from the State of New York Executive Department Division of the Budget regarding plans to continue funding for the State Northeastern Queens Nature and Historical Preserve Commission; a 1979 letter to Andrew Greller from Governor Hugh Carey appointing Andrew Greller as a member to the Northeastern Queens Nature and Historical Preserve Commission; a 1980 letter of thanks to Andrew Greller for the Commission’s fight to preserve the wetlands of the Alley Park; a 1980 letter from congressman Lester L. Wolf to Andrew Greller thanking him for appearing with him at the Subcommittee on National Parks and Insular Affairs regarding Long Island Sound heritage legislation; a 1982 letter to Andrew Greller from the Commission appointing him to the honorary position of Trustee.
