James Muyskens Oral History
In this interview, James Muyskens, former president of Queens College, talks about the value of his background in philosophy in his work as college administrator. He also talks about his work to instill pride in the Queens College community, to inspire in the students and the faculty the idea that Queens College is one of the best institutions for higher learning in the country.
James R. Forman Library Collection
James Forman was an important figure in the U.S. Civil Rights Movement, serving as Executive Secretary of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) between 1961-1966, and a life-long intellectual and activist. The James Forman Library includes approximately 1,940 books; four thousand printed items (comprised of pamphlets, serials, and reports); ten linear feet of FBI files; five linear feet of media materials; and three linear feet of personal papers.

This collection includes personal and printed materials, photographs, and feature personal accounts of Konzal’s activities as a tutor, civil rights activist, and student. The collection documents the Student Help Project in Prince Edward County, Virginia, and, to a lesser extent, other civil rights activism through 1965. Also present are materials on the 1963 March on Washington and documents from several civil rights organizations.

Joel Mandelbaum Manuscripts and Printed Music
The Joel Mandelbaum Manuscripts and Printed Music collection contains numerous printed and handwritten scores and manuscripts created by Joel Mandelbaum. Dr. Mandelbaum joined the Queens College faculty in 1961, serving as a professor of music for the Queens College Department of Music (later renamed the Aaron Copland School of Music in 1980) and retiring in 1999 after 37 years of service to the university.
