Abstract

The Alexander Kouguell Papers chronicle Alexander Kouguell's (1920-2022) personal life, career, and 68-year tenure at Queens College. The collection contains personal, performance, and academic records as well as photographic, audio, and music manuscripts. A noted cellist, Kouguell's papers detail his career as a performer, an educator, and provide researchers cultural snapshots of the greater New York area's orchestral scene throughout the 20th century.

The Audio Recordings series consists of 11 cassettes and 2 magnetic tapes, including recordings of performances, rehearsals, compositions, and personal content. These recordings offer a deeper insight into Kouguell's musical career, collaborations with other Queens College musicians, and relationships with close family members.

Scope and Contents This subseries consists primarily of taped recordings of Kouguell and his musical collaborators. The recordings include live performances and concerts, as well as informal rehearsals with other musicians.
