This series contains prints and negatives documenting synagogue architecture and religious celebrations in Romaniote congregations on the lower east side in New York and in Ioannina, Greece, as well as portraits of members of the Romaniote community in both locations.
New York
This sub-series contains prints and negatives documenting the architecture and community of the Kehila Kedosha Janina synagogue on the lower east side of New York City. It includes pictures of synagogue interiors and exteriors as well as events, including the bar mitzvah of Seth Kofinas in June 2007.
Prints
Includes 8" x 10" and 8.5" x 11" prints, mostly black and white.
Negatives
Includes 35mm and 120 negatives in single strips and on numbered sheets, as well as contact sheets for some negatives. Most are black and white; a few are color.
