Biographical / Historical
After receiving a $1.2 million grant from the Department of Education in 2009, the Asian/American Center officially launched the Asian American Pacific Islanders Community Studies (AAPICS) academic minor in spring 2010. The minor was simultaneously referred to as Asian American Pacific Islanders Community Studies (AAPICS) and Asian American Community Studies (AACS). The minor was commonly referred to as AAPICS from 2010-2011. From 2012 on, the minor was referred to solely as the Asian American Community Studies (AACS) minor.
