3.1 Scope and Contents Note
Printed in Antwerp by Christophe Plantin. After the title page there is a dedicatory introduction, to Charles D’Assonville, son of Christophe D’Assonville, later (1590-) baron of Bouchout. This specific edition of the promptuarium is probably the only one extant in the United States and one of very few in the world.

Vellum binding is worn but in decent shape, except for the top of the back, which is damaged but still mostly there. The binding is coming off the book, though it is not completely detached yet, and shows a leaf of early print used for the back.
