"La Lutte Continue/ Vigilance! Indicateurs 'Civiques'" , circa 1968
Scope and Contents
A double-sided oversized book page displaying two posters designed and printed by the Atelier Populaire, a workshop founded by student activists and artists occupying the print shop at the Ecole National Supérieure des Beaux Arts in Paris during the May 1968 student uprisings. The recto side depicts a red-orange image of a group of people with raised fists and the phrase, "la lutte continue," translated to "the struggle goes on." On the verso, an abstracted image of a black bird is depicted, surrounded by the phrase, "vigiliance! Indicateurs 'civiques'," translated to "beware! 'civic' informers." The text on both images is translated into English, Spanish, Italian, and German at the bottom of each page.
