Scope and Contents

Posters in this series illustrate international political activism with a focus on Latin America. Also included are materials referencing political activism in Ireland and France. Subject matter includes political revolution in Cuba, Chile, and Mexico, Irish independence, Puerto Rican independence, transnational political solidarity, and the May 1968 civil unrest and student led protest movement in France. Revolutionary figures depicted include Che Guevara, Fidel Castro, Emiliano Zapata, and Francisco Villa. Known poster producers include the Organization of Solidarity with the People of Asia, Africa and Latin America (OSPAAAL), Organisacion Continental Latino Americana de Estudiantes (OCLAE), the National Association for Irish Freedom, and the Northern Ireland Civil Rights Association.
