3.1 Scope and Contents Note
Printed in Venice by Andreas Torresanus de Asula (1451-1529) in the Aldus Manutius workshop (just 4 years after Aldus’ death). Aldus Manutius the Elder married in 1505, and thereafter the name of his father-in-law, Andrea Torresani di Asola, appeared regularly with his in imprints. Also listed under the title Historiae Augustae.

The vellum binding is old and retains leather straps, but it is coming off the book. The back has the following writing: IMPERATORUM VITAE EX DIONE.HEROD.LAM PRIDIO, ET ALIS. 33 Z Nisi factus written on the first blank page. The lines added in red here and there appear to be reading aids. Spartiani stamped on the underside of the book. Printer’s device on t.p. and last page.
