Alexander Kouguell Oral History
In the interview, Kouguell talks about joining the music department at Queens College in 1949 as an instructor and as the first cellist at the department. He notes his appreciation for the musical talents and achievements of his parents and reminisces about how different and suburban Flushing was at the time when he was starting at Queens College.
Alfred Heinemann Papers
Alfred Heinemann (1908-1995) was a German composer, concert pianist, and lecturer. The collection is comprised of Heinemann’s compositions from 1920 to 1964 and is in various stages of completion. The collection also includes notes on the compositions, lecture notes, programs from performances, correspondence, an audio recording of a performance of Heinemann’s String Quartet, and personal papers.
Andrew Berman Papers
The Andrew Berman Collection contains newspaper clippings, publications, activist documents, correspondence, fliers, position papers, conference notes and video footage documenting Mr. Berman’s political and social activism during his tenure as a Queens College student in the early-to-mid 1960s. Materials document Mr. Berman’s activist work with several major organizations, most significantly the Queens College chapter of Students for a Democratic Society.
