Biographical note
Félix V. Matos Rodríguez was appointed the eighth chancellor of The City University of New York in May 2019, becoming he first Latino and minority educator to head the university. Before that he served as president of Queens College (2014-2019) and Hostos Community College (2009-2014). He first came to CUNY in 2000, when he joined Hunter College as a professor of Black and Puerto Rican/Latino Studies and served as the director of the Center for Puerto Rican Studies. Matos Rodríguez holds a B.A. from Yale University and a doctorate in history from Columbia University.
