Abstract

Queens College Creative Services employs and/or contracts photographers to document academics, student life, and events on campus to create publicity and marketing material about the college. This collection includes photograph prints, photograph albums, and some negatives from the founding of the college in 1937 through about 2007, used by the Creative Services department in its work.

Scope and Contents

This series, containing the largest number of photographs in the collection, depicts Queens College from its founding in 1937 through the early 2000s. The subjects are primarily students on campus, and the events, meetings, classes where they congregate, so as to capture the atmosphere, energy, and feel of the College to transmit through its advertising and marketing materials.

Photos in Box 1 Folders 1-4 photographs document student demonstrations, the Virginia Student Help project of 1963, and the Jamaica Student Tutorial. Photos in box 25 document protests and building occupations in the spring of 1969.
