Scope and Contents

The Events subseries contains fliers, posters, programs, and other documents from SEEK anniversaries, reunions, ceremonies, and cultural activities on and off campus. Of particular note, there are materials from the dedication of Lloyd Delany Hall in 1993 and memorials and tributes to Samuel Clemens Floyd III, Frank Franklin, and Percy Sutton. Events are also documented in the Audio-Visual series and the Photographs series.

Abstract

This collection document the history of The Percy Ellis Sutton Search for Education, Elevation, and Knowledge (SEEK) program at Queens College from 1966 to the present. It contains administrative records, publications, photographs, ephemera, and audiovisual materials. SEEK is a higher education opportunity program that played a historic role in opening the City University of New York (CUNY) system to more diverse students populations.
