In the first two years, the collection grew to 350 items. The collection was directed by the Art Advisory Committee to the Paul Klapper Library, which housed and managed the collection. The committee consisted of the Dean of Faculty, the Chairman of the Art Department, the Librarian, the Assistant Business Manager, the Assistant Director of the School of General Studies, the Deputy Librarian, the Art Librarian and two members of the Art Department.
