Scope and Contents
Framed item contains a letter from Eleanor Roosevelt dated September 24, 1953 accepting an invitation from the Queens College Institute of Public Affairs to speak at the college at a "small noon luncheon" on October 9, 1953. There is also a photograph of Roosevelt accepting a bouquet of flowers during her visit.

Historical Note
According to the People's College on the Hill 50th anniversary publication, Roosevelt visited Queens College two times prior to the 1953 appearance. In March 1943 she spoke at the first of a Spring Victory Lecture Series on women's role in building peace. In March 1951 she spoke on the role of education in the modern world, sponsored by the Education Club.
