Biographical / Historical
The Michael Harrington Center for Democratic Values and Social Change was founded in to continue the legacy of outreach by Michael Harrington himself, a former political science professor at Queens College. Michael Harrington was a strong advocate for outreach relating to societal issues, spurring social change, and creating a just and equal society. He was one of the U.S.’s leading socialists and a founder of Democratic Socialists of America. Harrington's qualities and aspirations are reflected within the Michael Harrington Center itself. The Michael Harrington center strives to accomplish these goals by publishing papers on current social issues, providing consulting and workshops to social organizations and the larger community, and co-sponsoring events with the Center for Ethnic, Racial, and Religious Understanding (CERRU) and other campus organizations.
