Paul Klapper Papers

Abstract

The Paul Klapper Collection contains the correspondence, administrative files, certificates and awards, photographs, public speeches, programs, newspaper clippings, a doctoral hood, and his personal book collection of the first President of Queens College. The bulk of the collection covers 1937-1948, from the founding of the school until Klapper's retirement.

Queens College Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) Collection

Abstract

This collection covers the division of the Air Force ROTC program which was at Queens College during the 1950s. It includes a variety of materials related to the program, including correspondence, publications, photographs, and extensive documentation of the death of Lieutenant Alan Rea, a graduate of the program, and subsequent renaming of the ROTC building in his honor.

Queens College Campus Unrest Collection

Abstract: The Queens College Campus Unrest Collection contains papers, correspondence, and flyers regarding the Spring 1969 sit-in protest of the social science building by the Ad Hoc Committee to End Political Suppression. The protest was in defense of the three members of the Students for a Democratic Society who were arrested and charged for leading a protest for the removal of General Electric recruiters from QC campus. Queens College Commission on the Organization of the College audio cassettes

Scope and Contents

Audio recordings of hearings held by the "Commission on the Organization of the College" between Monday, January 31 and Wednesday, February 16, 1972. Accompanying the audio cassettes is a "Calendar of Meetings" listing the dates, topics, and locations of the meetings, as well as the 18 members of the commission; and a letter from Chief Librarian Robert H. Muller noting that these recordings "will some day be viewed as a crucial milestone in the development of the college."
