Scope and Contents
The file consists of two folder of materials that include posters, fliers, informational brochures, meeting agendas, statements, and list of demands created or distributed in Brooklyn, New York in 1968. These materials reflect the socio-cultural dynamic and tension existing between the students, striking teachers, community members, and school administration in the public school system in the Ocean Hill and Brownsville neighborhoods of Brooklyn, New York. Organizations or groups creating the materials include the United Federation of Teachers (UFT), the Queens Peace and Freedom Party, the New York High School Student Union, the New York Civil Liberties Union, and others.
