Biographical / Historical
The Asian/American Center's Translation Program was created to facilitate communication to communities by translating crucial documents from English into Chinese, Korean, and Spanish. The program translated documents produced by government agencies, health-care institutions, youth service groups, senior centers, nonprofit community organizations, arts groups, and programs that promote interethnic, interracial, and intercultural exchange. Examples of translated documents include Know Your Rights materials, immigrant services manuals, museum guides, and flyers for community events. Translation services were free to community agencies that were committed to printing and distributing the translated material. Hong Wu served as Director of the Translation Program.
