Scope and Contents

Includes materials related to public schools, teaching methodology, and issues surrounding education in New York City such as school overcrowding and vouchers. Reflects Marshall's areas of interest as an teacher as well as her education advocacy as a politician. Includes copy of the Memorandum, Decision and Order issued by the United States District Court Eastern District of New York for court case Marcus Brody-Jones et alia (Plaintiffs) against Frank Macchiarola et alia (Defendants), a 1979-1980 court case regarding overcrowding at I.S. 61 school in District 24 of Queens.

From the Collection:

Majority of the materials are written in English. A small quantity of correspondence is in Spanish and Korean. It is possible that there are other languages present throughout the correspondence, though it would be a very small percentage.
