Scope and Contents

Posters in this series focus on issues of workplace safety, worker’s rights, and labor unions. Most of the posters in this series were produced by United States labor unions including the International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW), and the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO). Other producers include the Miners Art Group of West Virginia, and the United States Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). AFL-CIO affiliated unions represented in the series include the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union (ACTWU), the United Federation of Teachers (UFT), Communications Workers of America (CWA), and St. Vincent’s Hospital (part of the National Union of Hospital and Healthcare Employees-District 1199). One bumper sticker and three art exhibition posters relating to labor and union rights are also included.
