S Books, 2001

 Item — Box: 1
Identifier: N7433.4 .R87 S17 2001

Scope and Contents

"After a 25-year hiatus from making artist's books, Ed Ruscha produced this intriguing book of altered book covers in conjunction with his exhibition at the James Kelly Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 2001. Each page presents a vintage monochromatic book cover, with the letter S emblazoned across it in different typefaces. It appears that various methods (scraping) and materials (bleach and paint) have been employed to etch the letter onto the covers, giving them a scarlike appearance."--from printedmatter.org
