Queering the Archives project, 2023
Scope and Contents
Materials in this series document the ongoing partnerships between GLASA, the CUNY LGBTQIA+ Consortium, Queens College Special Collections and Archives, and What Will the Neighbors Say? theatre company. In 2023, events like the Journal Party (where GLASA, the Consortium, and the Archives conducted an interactive program to introduce current QC undergraduates to the history of queer life on campus) and Queering the Archives: a play (a creative workshop collaboration series between What Will the Neighbors Say? and the Archives culminating in a verbatim performance piece staged in Rosenthal Library) served to promote awareness of the roots of queer actvism and history at Queens College and to reimagine archival material to serve new students as inspiration. The play's script and ephemera from the Journal Party and the opening night of the play are included in this series.
