Plant A Victory Garden Our Food is Fighting (OWI Poster No. 34), 1943
Scope and Contents
The World War II Posters collection contains 28 posters produced by the United States Government during World War II as part of propaganda campaigns to mobilize public support for the war effort. The Office of War Information (OWI) issued most of the posters in the collection. Other issuing agencies include the War Production Board, and the Office of Defense Transportation. Posters vary in size. Through a combination of vivid imagery, colorful illustrations, and bold text, the posters address themes including rationing goods and services, recycling materials, growing and storing food at home, buying war bonds, security and enemy espionage, and demonstrating patriotic pride.
