Picture/Readings by Barbara Kruger, 1978. From the Printed Matter Catalog: "The pictures in Picture / Reading are pictures of houses seen from the outside. The blinds are drawn on all of the windows and there are no views to the inside. These are provided by the Readings – texts about the imagined lives of the inhabitants of the buildings. In contrast to the cool sleekness of the California architecture the texts are a little hot and bothered, touching on the emotional and physical lives of the interior."
