Scope and Contents

Materials within this file represent correspondence between Marshall and an array of elected officials, community board members and organizers, business representatives, cultural institutions, labor unions, schools and universities, and more, as part of her daily activities as a New York City Councilmember from the early 1990s to the early 2000s. Some notable correspondants in these files include American politician Hillary Rodham Clinton, Peter Vallone Sr. (former Majority leader of the New York City Council), among others.

Language of Materials

From the Collection:

Majority of the materials are written in English. A small quantity of correspondence is in Spanish and Korean. It is possible that there are other languages present throughout the correspondence, though it would be a very small percentage.

Conditions Governing Access

Due to the sensitive nature of the contents and inclusion of personally identifiable information, constituent correspondence is restricted for 50 years from the date of creation. Constituent correspondence has been refoldered separately as a file grouping across this subseries.
