Scope and Contents
This sub-series contains materials related to the Ethnic Studies Heritage Program. It includes correspondence for the Ethnic Heritage Studies Programs proposal and early proposal grants, formal requests for funding from the Center for Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies for conferences and workshops, flyers and pamphlets for other programs within the Ethnic Studies Program (Italian-American Studies, Africana Studies, Puerto Rican Studies, Jewish Studies, Latin America Studies, Irish-American Studies), Queens College Newsletters with articles about the launch of the Ethic Materials and Information Center at Queens College, and assorted correspondence and meeting minutes from the Ethnic Studies Council. The Ethnic Studies Council meeting minutes and correspondence cover the proposal and founding of the Ethnic Studies Institute at Queens College, various personnel hiring and adjunct lines, the introduction and cancelation of courses, and budget and grants.

Biographical / Historical
Centers and Peograms that were a part of the Ethic Studies Progam include Byzantine Studies, East Asian Studies, Italian-American Studies, Jewish Studies, Africana Studies, Irish-American Studies, and Latin American Studies. Harry Psomiades, the founder of the Center for Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies, joined the Ethnic Studies Council in 1977.
