Scope and Contents
This series contains materials pertaining the Mississippi Freedom Summer Project (Freedom Summer) organized by the Council of Federated Organizations (COFO) in 1964. Included in Subseries A are memoranda, reports, fliers, and legal summaries produced and/or distributed by the Council of Federated Organizations (COFO) and notes compiled by Mark and Betty Bollinger Levy. Subseries B contains educational materials from COFO, lesson plans, and student essays and newsletters. Subseries C contains printed material pertaining to the twenty-fifth, thirtieth and fortieth anniversary commemorations and reunions. Subseries D consists of binders of printed materials, correspondence, instructions, material lists, memorandums, and pamphlets for teachers in Mississippi Freedom Schools.
