Borough President Files, General (14 folders), c. early 2000s to mid-2010s

 File — Multiple Containers

Scope and Contents

Materials within this file represent correspondence between Marshall and an array of elected officials, community board members and organizers, business representatives, cultural institutions, labor unions, schools and universities, and more, as part of her daily activities as Queens Borough President between the early 2000s and mid 2010s. Many of the materials are stamped with a "Received: Borough President of Queens" mark, including the date and time the correspondence was opened by Marshall's office (indicated on official letterhead as "City of New York Office of the President of the Borough of Queens, 120-55 Queens Boulevard, Kew Gardens, New York 11424-1015"). Some documents have green or yellow-colored "routing slips" attached, indicating which staff member reviewed the mail before submitting it to Marshall for further action. Some notable correspondants in these files include Gary L. Ackerman (former U.S. Congressmember), Catherine T. Nolan (former Deputy Speaker of the New York State Assembly), Nancy Calhoun (former New York State Assemblymember), and American politician Hillary Rodham Clinton, among others.
